1. INTRODUCTION & COMPREHENSIVE DEFINITIONS
This document constitutes a legally binding agreement between you (the "User", "Player", or "You") and CHESS OX (the "Platform", "Company", "We", "Us", or "Our"). By registering an account, making a deposit, participating in any tournament, or simply accessing the Platform, you signify your irrevocable and unconditional acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in their entirety, along with our Privacy Policy, Fair Play Policy, and any other guidelines posted on the Platform.
We reserve the right to modify, update, or replace any part of these Terms at any time without prior individual notice. Such modifications become effective immediately upon being posted on the Platform. It is your sole responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the platform following the posting of any changes constitutes absolute acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must immediately cease all use of the Platform and close your account.
2. USER ELIGIBILITY & JURISDICTIONAL COMPLIANCE
Access to CHESS OX is strictly governed by age and geographic location to ensure compliance with the Public Gambling Act, 1867, and various state-level regulations governing "games of skill".
2.1 Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account, participate in paid tournaments, or perform any financial transactions on CHESS OX. Users under 18 are strictly prohibited from using the Platform. We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time. Any account found to be operated by a minor will be terminated immediately, and any funds therein will be frozen until legal guardians are contacted, or forfeited as per law.
2.2 Jurisdictional Restrictions (The "Restricted States")
Participation in paid tournaments (Pay-to-Play) is restricted to users residing in jurisdictions where such participation is legal. Chess is recognized as a game of skill by the Supreme Court of India. However, specific states have passed legislation that restricts or prohibits paid participation in online games of skill. Users from the following states are strictly prohibited from participating in paid tournaments:
- Assam: Participation in paid games of skill is restricted under state law.
- Odisha: Participation is restricted under the Odisha Games of Chance and Games of Skill Act.
- Nagaland: Restricted to licensed operators only.
- Sikkim: Restricted to licensed physical gaming houses and specific online regulations.
- Andhra Pradesh: Participation in online gaming for prizes is restricted.
- Telangana: Participation in online gaming for prizes is restricted.
User location and eligibility are verified through KYC documentation and system-level checks. Access to paid features is restricted based on verified jurisdiction.
2.3 Global Users
Users outside of India are responsible for ensuring that their participation complies with their local laws. CHESS OX does not warrant that the Platform is legal for use in all countries.
3. USER ACCOUNTS & SECURITY
To access the full suite of CHESS OX services, you must create a User Account. This account is personal, non-transferable, and subject to the following rules:
3.1 Registration Information
You agree to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself during the registration process. If any information changes (e.g., your phone number or email), you must update your profile immediately.
3.2 One Account Policy (Anti-Sybil)
Each individual user is permitted to maintain only ONE account. "Multi-accounting" to gain unfair advantages in tournaments, bypass limits, or abuse promotional offers is strictly prohibited. Each user is permitted only one account per individual identity, including PAN verification where applicable. Our systems actively monitor device fingerprints, IP addresses, and behavior patterns to detect duplicate accounts. If multiple accounts are linked to a single individual, all accounts will be suspended, and any winnings will be voided.
3.3 Account Security & OTP
CHESS OX uses a passwordless login system via One-Time Passwords (OTP). You are solely responsible for the security of your mobile device and your phone number. Any action taken through your account (including but not limited to joining tournaments, making deposits, or withdrawing funds) will be deemed as having been performed by you. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3.4 Account Inactivity
Accounts that have not been accessed for more than 12 consecutive months may be deemed "Inactive". We reserve the right to charge a nominal maintenance fee of 10 Coins per month for inactive accounts with balances, or to close such accounts after providing 30 days' notice via email/SMS.
4. KYC (KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER) PROCEDURES
KYC is a critical component of our commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. It is mandatory for all users who wish to participate in paid tournaments or withdraw funds.
4.1 Verification Requirements
To complete KYC, you must upload clear, legible copies of:
- Proof of Identity: Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
- PAN Card: Mandatory for TDS calculations and high-value transactions.
- Proof of Address: If different from the identity document.
4.2 Validation Process
Our verification team, along with automated AI systems, will review your documents. We may, at our discretion, require a "Selfie with ID" or a short video verification if documents are unclear or suspicious. The verification process generally takes 24 to 48 hours.
4.3 Rejection of Documents
We may reject documents if they are expired, blurred, edited, or if the name does not match the bank/UPI account linked for withdrawals. Providing fraudulent documents is a criminal offense and will be reported to relevant authorities.
5. WALLET, PAYMENTS & FINANCIAL POLICIES
The CHESS OX Wallet system facilitates all financial interactions on the Platform. By using the Wallet, you agree to the following financial terms:
5.1 Deposit Rules
- Methods: We accept UPI, Net Banking, and Credit/Debit Cards via our secure payment gateway partners (e.g., Razorpay).
- Limits: Minimum deposit is ₹10. Maximum daily deposit is ₹1,00,000 unless higher limits are pre-approved for high-stakes players.
- Deposit Usage: Deposited funds are intended primarily for gameplay on the platform. Withdrawal of deposited funds may be permitted subject to reasonable usage requirements, fraud prevention checks, and platform policies to prevent misuse as a transfer mechanism.
5.2 Withdrawal Rules
- Minimum Withdrawal: 30 Coins.
- Maximum Withdrawal: ₹50,000 per day (subject to KYC and rank).
- Maintenance Buffer: You must maintain a minimum of 10 Coins in your wallet. The system will not allow you to withdraw these final 10 Coins to ensure your account remains active.
- Verification: Withdrawals are only sent to UPI IDs or Bank Accounts that belong to the verified KYC holder. Third-party withdrawals are strictly prohibited. Withdrawal timelines are indicative and may vary due to banking delays, compliance verification, or technical issues beyond the control of CHESS OX.
5.3 TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)
As per the Finance Act, 2023, and Section 194BA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, TDS at the rate of 30% shall be deducted from the "Net Winnings" of a user at the time of withdrawal or at the end of the financial year. CHESS OX will provide a TDS certificate on a quarterly basis, which can be used for filing your tax returns.
5.4 Transaction Fees
While CHESS OX does not charge for deposits, we reserve the right to charge a nominal "Payout Processing Fee" of up to ₹1 per withdrawal request to cover banking and gateway costs. Applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) may be included within platform fees or charged separately as per prevailing Indian tax regulations.
6. TOURNAMENT MECHANICS & RULES
CHESS OX is a skill-based platform where users compete in chess. The following rules govern all competitive events:
6.1 Tournament Formats
- Knockout (Single Elimination): Players are paired in rounds. The winner advances, and the loser is eliminated.
- Swiss System: Players are paired against opponents with similar scores. No one is eliminated until the final round.
- Arena: A fast-paced format where players can play as many games as possible within a time limit.
6.2 Match Timing (The Clock)
Every match is played with a countdown timer (e.g., 1 min, 3 min, 5 min). If your clock reaches zero, you lose the game immediately, regardless of the board position (unless the opponent has insufficient material to mate, in which case it is a draw).
6.3 Disconnection Policy
Stable internet is a prerequisite for online chess. CHESS OX is not responsible for losses caused by your local network failures, device battery issues, or ISP outages.
- Reconnect Window: If you disconnect, the game remains active. You should try to reconnect as quickly as possible. Your clock will continue to run while you are disconnected.
- Abandonment: If a player fails to make a move within the first 15 seconds of a match, the game may be automatically cancelled and the player penalized.
6.4 Fair Pairing
Our matchmaking algorithm pairs players based on their IQ Level and historical performance. We strive to provide a balanced competitive environment.
6.5 Prize Pool Calculation
For Paid Tournaments, the prize pool is generated from user entry fees. CHESS OX deducts a Platform Service Fee (Commission) of approximately 15.1% to cover operational costs, prize management, and tax compliance. The remaining 84.9% is distributed among the winners.
7. FAIR PLAY & ANTI-CHEAT STANDARDS
The integrity of chess is paramount. We employ a multi-layered detection system to ensure a level playing field.
7.1 Definition of Cheating
Cheating includes, but is not limited to:
- Using chess engines like Stockfish, Komodo, or AlphaZero.
- Using "opening books" or move databases during a live match.
- Receiving move suggestions from another person (coaching).
- Using automated scripts to move pieces (bots).
- "Sandbagging" (losing intentionally to play against weaker opponents).
7.2 Detection Methods
Our Anti-Cheat system analyzes every move made on the Platform. We check for:
- Move Accuracy: Correlation with top engine choices.
- Time Consistency: Uniform delays between moves (suggesting engine input).
- Browser Behavior: Toggling tabs or losing focus during a match.
- Performance Spikes: Sudden, unexplained increases in playing strength.
7.3 Consequences of Violation
If our system or moderation team identifies a player as a cheater:
- The account will be permanently banned.
- All remaining wallet balances may be withheld, suspended, or forfeited after due investigation and in accordance with applicable laws and platform policies.
- The user's IP and device ID will be blacklisted.
- In severe cases, legal action may be initiated for fraudulent gain.
8. REFUND, CANCELLATION & DISPUTES
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy is now maintained on a dedicated page to provide the most exhaustive detail possible.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CHESS OX from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or third-party rights.
